It's a shame to see that Tri City has gone to non-family friendly ticket pricing for this show and is charging $5 for six year olds. Many young parents with kids may look at this and decide to stay home. I know my ticket cost just went up significantly.

I-55, for every show, always has family friendly ticket pricing with 12 and under free.

I'm really looking forward to this show.
I'm thinking the tickets prices are pretty much in line, after all the payouts are better than the Chili Bowl, neighborhood of $50,000 in the A-Main alone.:applaud:

Hmmmmm, $100 entry for $1,000 to start vs. zero entry for $100-$150 start (for a typical program). Ahhhhh yes, decisions decisions :D

$1000 minumum is only paid to the 24 starters on Saturday night. The rest go home with pocket change. Members of POWRi like myself are given a discount entry fee at POWRi sanctioned races as opposed to non members who pay 1/3 more I believe. I'll look again but I don't see a $$$ break for members. My calculations tell me for the number of races that I run I would be way ahead not being a member.

Three nights of midget racing at Granite City with a possibility of 60+ cars. This race looks like it could be the best race of the year. For the fans, the admission is very much in line. Twenty five for each of the two regular shows is not out of line, and thirty five for the big night is less than tickets for the Chili Bowl or any Outlaw event. For the car owners, one hundred dollars in advance for the three nights isn't that big of an increase, when POWRi owners pay twenty dollars for entry fees each night on regular shows. The pit passes were not inflated, so if the entry is paid ahead of the deadline the only additional cost is forty dollars. For the drivers, the best competition in the country will be there. The only complaint I can see will be the parking if you don't get there early.

By the way I don't work for the track or POWRi, but I would like to see this race have a chance. I do think POWRi and the good people at Tri City Speedway deserve a big pat on the back for taking a big chance promoting this race and I wish them success.

Are the prelim nights split or does everyone race? Believe I heard that the top three on Thurs. and Fri. advance to the featch on Sat. May have to make it up for a couple of nights.

I hope this event becomes a yearly event. It has the making of being a great tradition of which I can only make Saturday night but more than likely will be there for Saturday's final night.

I really need to get a job that stops constantly taking priority over racing.

I don't think the prices are out of line at all, if the purse is being paid from the front and back gates. Now, if they have a major title sponsor paying a majority of the purse? then, cut the customers a little break. My guess would be that they don't have that "sugar-daddy" sponsor. I hope it's a huge success.

Last year this race was a hit with POWRi alone. Sanctioned with USAC... Im afraid. It really hurts me that only 4 & 4 will be working the race. 4 USAC officials and 4 Powri. Guys like Bryan Barton was moved out of this position and I am starting to feel for this guy. First, USAC drops Slim, Ronnie, Bryan ...etc and now here they go again pushing Bryan from another job he LOVES.

I love Granite City and I hope the racing will still be as good as it was last year.

in racing it's just not fair anymore to the workers.

PRAY FOR A GOOD RACE...BETTER YET a GOOD TURN-OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm missing something, but an above post by the track says the top 2 from Friday and the top 2 from Saturday are locked into the A main. Huh???!!!

Also I went to the Tri-City web site and read the format. Maybe I'm missing something again but what determines the cars assigned to the D, C and B mains????? Is there some kind of point deal going or what???? If all the cars are running both preliminary nights, then how is that figured into the various mains on Saturday night???

Don,

I went to the track website and took a look at the format. I think they are missing a couple of lines. If I had to guess I would say they are running a format similar to the Chili Bowl. Heats, Last Chance Races, Qualifying Races, B Mains, then Feature.
