Rained Out!

Crowd must have been small, that is the only thing that would explain running an 8 car semi to transfer 7 cars with rain bearing down on Lincoln when that time could have been used to get the feature in? Don't know, just thinking out loud!

Re: USAC....Lincoln, P...6-4-14

Kevin Miller, forgot his billfold and figure if it rain, he could use the purse money for some pocket change. The Racer do not need the cash to get down the road. Already heard of two teams considering heading west.

Koonzee 6/4/14 11:12 PM

They did everything they could. Eleven car B,but not all showed. Came close to starting the A in the rain. Lined up the A and ran 20 or so slippery as hell hot laps, then got them back in starting formation . Hines left front went flat while lining up and the rain hasn't stopped since. Rained before 930 still raining at 11.Waited an hour and had to call it.
Double features next year. I'll be back . Weather looks good from here on . Just the facts from the actual scene.

Koonzee 6/4/14 11:19 PM

Calling it was Mother Nature ,not USAC. There's two cars with engine issues I could see them leaving.Hope not. Again just the facts from people actually at the races, enjoying life.(rain or shine)

treecitytornado 6/4/14 11:40 PM

How are they going to do double features a year later? USAC website said the purse money will be added to next year's race. That makes a little more sense.

They have done it in the past at Grandview.

Keep in mind, JT, the feature field is already set. Should be interesting to see how this is handled. I guess we will know in about 360some days, right!

How was the track? The last time I saw USAC at Lincoln it was bad. Total huggy-pole parade.

Abbottstown, Pennsylvania…….Just as cars pushed onto the track for Wednesday night’s AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship 30-lap Feature at Lincoln Speedway, the skies let loose and forced officials to call off the evening’s finale.

Teams heading back west is something that seems to happen every year if they are not in the points race. Friday is an off day in Pa. and they come back to run the local shows.

Re: USAC....Lincoln, P...6-4-14

I just looked at the difference in the point standings and it looks like everyone was given 45 "appearance" points in addition to the points they would have received for Qualifying and the heat and semi finishes.

snoopy 6/5/14 10:24 AM

With teams not known to be long lasting. Next year who gets the starting spot the owner or driver if not still a team?

on_the_edge 6/5/14 10:46 AM

Teams I believe were all paid start money if they made the feature and the ones who didn't were paid their tow money. The money that is left over from the purse will be added to next year's purse at that race. So might be 7k to win and more throughout the field. No double feature just more added to purse.

kcarm92 6/5/14 11:47 AM

think part of fall off of teams following usac is you dont get your money after each nights race you get it a week or two later so to go run 4 -6 races it takes alot of money up front thats hard on smaller teams so most dont travel anymore maybe they should look into paying each night. could be wrong thats the way it had been dont know if its changed or not

Kinser11 6/5/14 12:11 PM

Re: USAC....Lincoln, P...6-4-14

With electronic bank payments, looks like 24 to 48 hours would be available to all teams. I am sure it would help small teams especially at the beginning of the season, and week long swings.

That is correct, but they do have direct deposit now so guys can get their pay quicker. Also sometimes during stretches of races USAC will give them a check for the first couple of races in the middle of the week atleast they have done that during sprint week.

Dick the track was about perfect for them. USAC had 9 cars under the track record. There were a lot of wheel stands coming out of turn 4 the fans I was around were going nuts with what they were seeing. They also set a new 8 and 12 lap record. It would have been a perfect night of racing if the weather would have been a non factor.

I thought Dave would have gained points on Brady Bacon but he didn't. Weird.

snoopy 6/5/14 6:17 PM

Post 17 was after guys tweeted last night about knowing the start position a year out?

He did gain 1 point...Dave was fast qualifier and got 6 points, Brady was second quick and got 5 points...they both were 4th in their heat so they each got 5 points for that. Brady had a 25 point lead after Grandview Tuesday night and now his lead is 24 points.

Oh Thank you! My math is bad! I thought they were 15 points apart going in. Thanks!
