Re: 2014 USAC Sprint schedule

While I am thrilled to see USAC come back to Wisconsin I would have hoped it would have been on the eastside of the state. Indy to Superior is 646 miles or almost 11 hour tow. Then a 4 hour tow from Superior to Deer Creek and a 3.5 hour tow to Sun Prairie from Deer Creek. So Indy and back to Indy to hit all 3 tracks is 1,456 miles. Sure hope they come up with some tow money to get guys to go. The UMSS has a nonwinged division on the WI/MN boarder but there are non of those guys who are USAC caliber when it comes to equipment but that could be the key to filling the field. Hopefully the UMSS doesn't schedule against USAC.

Once again in 2014 we Illini don't get a USAC sprint car race. I shouldn't be surprised since the mud taxi's have a stranglehold on racing activities over here in The Land O' Lincoln and crooked politicians. But, it's still a bit depressing to think that USAC and not one track promoter in Illiniland can get together and try to make a buck or two hosting a USAC wingless sprint car race.

Oh well, it serves for us to treasure our Silver Crown and Midget dates along with the Terre Haute shows that much more.

Re: 2014 USAC Sprint schedule

It's nice to see a couple of dates fairly close to home: Eagle (4 hours) and McCool Junction (3 hours). Thank you, USAC; That weekend will be a nice precursor to my 3rd "annual" trip to the Hoosier Hundred, big and Little 500s, and hopefully USAC sprints at THAT, provided they're not rained out again.

ThrowbackRacingTeam 12/12/13 6:27 PM

17 races are more than 6 hours from Indy. Gonna be expensive for those guys who only run for half a WoO purse. So they got rid of osky because its too far yet replace it with a race in Minnesota?

fasster23 12/12/13 7:33 PM

Not one race in MO either. One in KS and it's Dodge City, which is 350 miles west of me in KC. I'm sure for the same reason ISF said. The d@mn taxi cabs.

You have to go to tracks that want the dates

Personally I would love to see Indiana Sprint Week start at Haubstadt and work back up to Gas City. More people would go to Haubstadt then too. I have heard over and over, "I'm not going to Hotspot". But if that was the first race they might be more inclined.
I will be there either way! :8:

When is the Dodge City? I was upset that a return trip to US36 was not in the cards.

I like Haubstadt for the finale. You know what you're getting when you get there. I just hope this year Sunday is a rain date. I sure wish it hadn't rained out this year.

What the heck happened to I-96 in Michigan? Not enough cars showed from USAC to justify the price?
I'm bummed, that was a great show last summer.

The Dodge City race is August 16, for the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars.

No race this year at Riverside Speedway West Memphis, Ar. I can understand not going back to I-30, that track was crap. Oh well maybe the following year.

dam taxi cabs pay the bills. lol pay 10000 to win get 200 mods or u get 30 sprint cars kinda a no brainer plus when we went to deer creek for the big mod race good luck finding a seat the place was packed and the camp grounds to. and if u drop that chip on ur shoulders against mods u would no why it was packed darn good racing. i love sprint cars but im a bigger fan of good racing and i dont care if its gocarts or thunder cars. it will be worth ur trip to deer creek that place is top notch and the owners and fans up there r second to none. im ready :D

The eastern storm looks good this year. They are missing what I think would be the best track of the tour though. Path Valley for some reason is not on the list. i sent an email to see if I can find out why.

Oh yeah there is open invite for the Lburg crew (you know who you are) for the Storm. Friday being open could be the USAC/ IOW party on the hill.:D

Re: 2014 USAC Sprint schedule

Really glad to see the Sprints coming to Superior but it really is a long haul. Northern WI has some really really great dirt tracks. I have watched winged sprint cars at Deer Creek and I believe that will be a great show. Would have liked to see Cedar Lake Speedway in there somewhere (between Superior and Deer Creek). Also, I know Angell Park has not produced the best show for the sprint cars, but this year may be a different story. Hearing rumors that they will be removing the inside guardrail, and possibly making the track a little wider. Both of which I believe would make the sprint cars a little more fun to watch. Either way, glad to see a few shows in Wisconsin! Have already taken some PTO!

I would think a THAT, Granite City, Clay County trio would be a hit at labor day weekend leading up the the Crown race in DuQuoin.

Changes to the track at Angell Park? Sounds good but any info on who is running the place as of Jan. 1st?

Not sure of who exactly is running it. I believe Kenny Brown will still be doing the promoting. Sounds like Fireman's Nationals has been moved to 4th of July weekend. Also sounds like IRA sprint cars will be making an appearance this year as well...

Can someone fill us in on AMSOIL Speedway in Superior WI? It is rather obvious why they booked it, but what kind of track is it? The track web site doesn't mention banking, size, etc. Do they usually have a track upon which you can pass? Does it produce good racing? Are there nonwing racers in that part of the country? At 580 miles from Springfield, I would like to have a reasonable expectation of good racing. Thanks.

racegal 12/15/13 4:44 PM

Re: 2014 USAC Sprint schedule

I'll let Stealth87 take this one. I will say I was there late this fall watching a rare wing and non wing sprint show and there was plenty of passing. Not sure if this is the norm though! Brian gets there alot. He can probably answer better.
Hope to see you there!!!:8:

3/8 mile generally quite tacky. Usually excellent racing, though I haven't been there since the lastest Race Director took over.
Closest non-wing Sprint track 100 miles away, but they run what is basicly a B-Mod/Econo-mod motor with a 2-barrel carb.

IRA winged 410's run Superior annually. The place is always pack and put on a great show. Here is the highlights from this year. USAC will be a great show just curious where they will get any other cars to support the show.

Re: 2014 USAC Sprint schedule

Yup this place is GREAT! Usually pretty wide. Red Clay stays pretty tacky all night. Banking is higher than this video shows. I am SUPER excited for USAC to make a trip to Superior! And as you can see, the fans PACK that place for open wheel shows. Its always standing room only come race time
