2020 USAC NATIONAL SPRINT SCHEDULE RELEASED

By: Richie Murray – USAC Media

Speedway, Indiana (December 11, 2019)………Forty-six events at 23 different venues across 14 states dot the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car calendar for the 2020 season with many of the familiar favorites joining a bevy of racetracks making their return to the schedule.

For the 11th consecutive season, the series begins the campaign with three-straight events in Florida, at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala on Feb. 13-14-15.* From there, the season kicks into gear in the Midwest springtime with an April 4 visit to Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway, followed by a southern Indiana doubleheader weekend at Bloomington Speedway on April 17 and Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt on April 18.

Seven races are slated for the Month of May with a double-dip weekend on May 1 and May 2 at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kans.) and Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.).* The banks of Eldora Speedway welcome the series on May 8-9 for #LetsRaceTwo along with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws.* The Week of Indy commences with the 50th running of the Tony Hulman Classic at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track on May 20.* May rounds up with two consecutive nights at Minnesota’s Jackson Motorplex, the series’ first trip to the track since 2016.

The 14th edition of Eastern Storm takes the series eastbound to Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey for five sprint races in a six-night span, June 9 at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa., June 10 at the newly-reconfigured Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, N.J., June 11 at BAPS Motor Speedway in York Haven, Pa., June 13 at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania and the finale, June 14 at New York’s Weedsport Speedway.* June comes to a close with a northern two-fer, first at Indiana’s Plymouth Speedway on June 26 and a return to the state of Michigan and I-96 Speedway for the first time since 2013 on June 27.

Putnamville, Indiana’s Lincoln Park Speedway celebrates Independence Day in style with the Bill Gardner Sprintacular on July 4, followed a week later by the series’ lone visit to Nebraska and I-80 Speedway on July 9.* The second edition of the Corn Belt Nationals arrives on July 10-11 at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway.* From one fabled half-mile dirt track to another goes the series on July 15 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Late July brings about the 33rd installment of Indiana Sprint Week for seven races in nine days across the Hoosier state, opening with Gas City I-69 Speedway on July 24, before heading to Kokomo Speedway on July 25 and Lawrenceburg on July 26.* The series hits the road again for the second half of ISW at Terre Haute on July 29, Lincoln Park on July 30, Bloomington on July 31 and Tri-State on August 1, the first time the ISW series has ventured into the month of August since 1993.

The lone non-points, special event of the year, #GYATK Night, takes place at Kokomo on August 26, leading into the ninth running of Sprint Car Smackdown at the quarter mile dirt oval for three nights in a row on August 27-28-29.

Terre Haute’s Jim Hurtubise Classic has the series back at the Action Track for the third time on Sep. 18 as will the Haubstadt Hustler at Tri-State on September 19.* Gas City’s James Dean Classic brings the USAC Sprints East of Eden and North on I-69 on September 24, followed by the 39th edition of the 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway.* The Fall Nationals at Lawrenceburg wind down the Midwest portion of the season on October 3.

For USAC, November signals the time to head west for a pair of prestigious events in California and Arizona.* First up is the 25th running of the Oval Nationals at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway for three nights on Nov. 5-6-7.* The following week is set for the series’ finale along with the AMSOIL USAC/CRA and Sands Chevrolet Southwest Sprints on Nov. 13-14 at Arizona Speedway for the 53rd Western World Championship in San Tan Valley.

I 96 has a pretty impressive schedule from I have seen so far. Really happy to see big races 100 miles from home 🏁

IndianaSprintFan 12/11/19 9:39 PM

Why not some different Indiana track. The promoters not wanting to host or is USAC just stuck in their ways. Would love to see Brownstown, twin cities, paragon get a date. By no means bashing, just asking.

I just realized that the 7/15 Wednesday Night race at Eldora IS going to be sanctioned by USAC. We thought it might just be an open race back on the Hoosier Hundred Terre Haute thread a few weeks back.

They have really killed my ability and interest in attend Eastern Storm. If I’m going to have to take off work and book a hotel I’d might as well just fly out to Indy for Midget Week or Sprint Week. In the long run it will likely be cheaper too.

Joe Schaub 12/12/19 9:50 AM

It's an okay schedule. Wish USAC would get to more Illinois tracks. FloRacing or whomever has the streaming contract will be getting my money I guess.

I'm lucky to live close to a couple of eastern storm tracks, so if the weather cooperates I'll get to 2 events. Williams Grove has their schedule out and the Silver Crown cars are supposed to be there Friday the 12th, I'm not sure that is accurate though. I would trade my eastern storm for another midget week any day though.

Susky is the closest for me and that 2 plus hours. I might hit the Grove but that's only if TrailWays is not running the wingless Super Sportsman the same night like last year.

I agree, all the tracks in IL and Ohio and hardly any on schedule

What is it nine races in Pa. and Cali? One in Illinois and it's the indoor race.

More power to having a ton of races out east and in Cali., but agree it would be nice to see Granite City, Fairbury on the schedule

Re: Usac: 2020 usac national sprint schedule released

It seems Illinois, with Joliet on NASCAR weekend being the exception, just isn't a fertile area for USAC's sprint & midget divisions.

Read on the Fairbury Facebook page that the 2 WoO Sprint Car shows were not money making events for them so they were dropped from their schedule after only 2 years. If the WoO Sprint Cars are a loser for them then common sense would dictate that either of the USAC National divisions probably wouldn't be all that lucrative for them either.

Due our close proximity to Fairbury no one would be happier to see USAC on their schedule. I've attended every open wheel event at Fairbury since the first POWRi National Midget race back in 2016 and the crowd just isn't there in comparison to most of the late model events. A couple of those are sold out.

I've sat with some of the hard core Fairbury late model regulars and they constantly bemoan the push starts and lack of push trucks especially after the red flags due to flips. I've tried to explain that most of the problem is inadequate numbers, and lack of organization, of push vehicles.

It's a fact of life that Fairbury is predominantly a late model track. Period. And that isn't likely to change anytime soon.

Ohio was tried for a number of years with the Buckeye Nationals. It was 4 nites a few years then tailed off. It was a good deal but obviously not supported. I live near the Pa/NJ border so obviously I support all Eastern Storm events and my experience tells me that these races are well supported every year. Hopefully Usac doesn’t tell Williams Grove to make the track rock hard again this year so we can see dirt cars sliding the turns not crawling around the bottom like asphalt. The Storm is a great week and I’d think they will continue it for years to come. Aside from Granite City and Farmer City my Illinois experience is limited, but both were rock hard and tire eaters when I went. So glad Pevely is on the schedule. That was one of the best races of 2018. The 15 hr drive was totally worth it. Hoping Jackson turns out well for them. Still don’t understand a Sprintweek with a 2 day break. So many tracks to race at for 9 nites with no break. It’s done elsewhere so it’s totally possible. 46 races is a healthy schedule hopefully there is a healthy group to follow the tour.

I agree with another poster that when you go to late model country you won’t be able to sell push starts very well. It’s hard enough to sell non wing in most sprint car areas. Feb is two months away and it starts again. Can’t wait.

I was surprised myself. When we renew our tickets for that weekend we called the ticket office and they said that it was a open racing events for both of the racing events. With $10,000 to win for both series. I Did Notice That Its Not A Sanctioned WOO Racing Events. I guess that we will show up on Wednesday before the kings royal and be happy. LOL.
