According to Anderson Speedway Facebook page the Tony Elliott Classic has been postponed until October 21. Which will be my 52nd and last race of the year as long as the Kokomo race on 10/20 does not get delayed.

In the past Steve if the Friday show gets rain they run it on Sunday and keep their Saturday schedule the same.

I saw a disturbing You Tube video from Anderson Speedway last Saturday, anyone else happen to see it,Figure 8 Race maybe?

jonboat15 10/17/17 9:25 PM

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

Yes, I watched the video on national news today. It was interesting but disturbing is the correct way to put it. Not the kind of thing that helps promote short track racing.

trannyman 10/17/17 9:25 PM

Most everyone in Indiana seen it on the news,as well.I'll bite. What was the disturbing part for you?

Dirtfan 10/17/17 9:31 PM

As all of us try to recruit new fans,is this what we "Promote" to potential new fans, especially young ones?
Is this as a Responsible Parent you would take your child to watch?

treecitytornado 10/17/17 9:35 PM

I wouldn't say disturbing, but definitely disappointing! Especially in front of, a lot of young, impressionable fans! Not the way you handle a disagreement, for sure!

I would see this as a “teaching opportunity “ for our younger or new fans. I’d tell them, “Even in the best communities you’ll occasionally find Dickheads!”

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

I saw it yesterday and thought it was a real black eye for out sport. Reminded me of a video a year or two ago of an altercation between two late model drivers when one of the drivers jumped on the other car and actually went through the windscreen (don't believe it was glass). One of the participants was barred for life from the track involved.

767 10/18/17 3:51 PM

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

So disappointing what this track has become. This track is a prime example of an owner running it into the dirt. Track officials calling keeping other track officials from helping the situation. I don't care what form of sports you are involved with, there will always be incidents. Officials break them up and move on. This is yet another reason why I only visit this track once per year. :15:

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

Going Saturday to see some much needed pavement sprint car racing and to pay homage to Tony Elliott. As far as the fight is concerned most usually happen in the pits out of fans site. Most upsetting part may have been the witnessing of the tasing. Looked like the refs were just letting them go at it waiting for the officer to come in.

BrentTFunk 10/18/17 4:23 PM

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

I didn't think the fight was that bad. The guy driving his car on top of the other could be attempted murder. Could have been much worse.

ronmil 10/18/17 4:41 PM

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

You may not believe this, but I have never been to Anderson Speedway!!!!

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

Grew up in Muncie and went to Anderson often in my younger years. Believe me that fight was nothing compared to some I saw there back in the day. Driving over the other car on the other hand deserved the trip to the pokey.

racer-x 10/19/17 12:15 PM

The video of that big Turd laying on the ground in the fetal position after being shocked is hilarious if you ask me.
I just read were that guy is banned for life at the speedway!

Actually the guy laying on the ground Shawn Cullen is not banned for life only banned for 2 feature races. The other driver Jeff Swinford is the one banned for life. Also Shawn Cullen was the 2017 track champion for the figure 8's so that is probably a reason his ban was not nearly as long.

I was always a fan especially when he was in this car (no matter what the number was) and its slick paint scheme.

Here's one for the young & old.

I was planning on coming till I seen where they was not going to requalify and there's no heat races for the Sprint Cars. What's up with all that?

sprintracer82 10/20/17 10:47 AM

Paw, there never is any heat races for the nonwing sprintcar races. That's part of the draw for teams. It's an abbreviated Little 500 night. You get two practice sessions, once chance to qualify, and either a 50 lap or 100 lap race.

Re: Tony Elliott Classic- Anderson Speedway

Just a quick reminder we are racing tomorrow night to honor Tony Elliott and his family and in support of Breast Cancer awareness month. We are also doing a silent auction to help out Dave Sink. There are plenty of good reasons to support this race! The auction has many signed items including a helmet with all the drivers. Signed items from Tony Stewart, Kody Swanson, Justin Grant, Jacob Wilson and more......Bobby Santos, Ryan Litt, Jimmy McCune. It will be a fun night so come out and support pavement sprint car racing and the Kenyon Midget series. Bring some extra cash and bid on something. See you all there!!!

sprint18 10/20/17 11:02 AM

Well Put Brian!
