Kokomo?
Updates starts here
|
Re: Kokomo?
No update yet on Facebook. I am leaving work at Noon to get the camper and head over at around 2, hopefully we have an answer by then. If i get cancelled on the way I guess I'll go to Gas City and wait there.
|
I just stopped by the track...at 1:45pm EST Kokomo is still on and still racing tonight, October 20, for what was originally scheduled as night #1 of The Kokomo Klash and what is slated as Dave Darland's final race of his outstanding career!!
May be a bit damp, may be a bit muddy in places, may be a bit chilly, bundle up, racing is on tonight at the baddest bullring in Indiana and arguably the best 1/4 mile track in the nation!! |
Pits are filling up. Beer is flowing, great night on tap

Re: Kokomo?
Wish someone will give us updates.
By far my worst attended of races season. Think I got maybe seven and a LM race in. |

21 sprints in house. DD obviously, Shane and Colten cottle, Jake Swanson in the 2B, Pretorious, Trey obsourne in the Baldwin 5, Frankie guernini, Jadon Rodger’s in dutcher 17, and Robert ballou
|
Trey Osborne fastest in group 1. Jake Swanson quickest in group 2. And The People’s Champ, DD, Dave Darland quickest in group 3. No invert. So those 3 drivers will start on the pole for their respective heat races.
|
21 sprints, 19 RaceSavers, 33 Thunder cars and 7 Sportsmen, 80 total
Dave Darland and Shane Cottle in front row of heat 3. |
Trey Osbourne heat #1 winner...Jake Swanson heat #2 winner...Shane Cottle heat #3 winner...Dave Darland 2nd in heat #3.
|
Thanks for the updates
|
One hell of a race and battle for the last race of the season at Kokomo...unofficial top 6...R. Ballou, J. Rogers, J. Swanson, S. Cottle, T. Osbourne, D. Darland.
|
Hell of a career DD! You’ll be missed. Thanks for the memories.

Re: Kokomo?
It was a heavy, quick and somewhat tricky track tonite. The O'Connor's did a great job to get this in.
Shane Cottle had Epperson's car humming and Ballou was elbows up tonite. In fact the battle between the 2 might have been the best I've seen all year. Enjoyed the RaceSavers as well, first time I've ever seen them run. Best wishes to DD on his retirement. Lot of active drivers should take note on how Dave conducted himself, on and off track. I doubt you could find anyone to say anything bad about Dave. That's rare in this day and age. |
Thanks for the thrills DD! Enjoy your retirement!

Re: Kokomo?
JMO. Dont mean to be to forward but Id like to think he could serve the sport in some other capacity on a team or with USAC. PS missed his last race as a driver but hope to catch his first race as a fan at GC tonight :22:
|
All hail to Dave Darland on a stellar career!

Re: Kokomo?
Did the track have any kind of ceremony for Dave?

Re: Kokomo?
I guess I thought they would do something really special, like they did the BC 39 Victory Circle.
|
It would seem better to recognize DD at a bigger event next year with more fans in attendance. I wasn’t at the Klash but have attended in the past and typically a relatively small crowd.

Re: Kokomo?
First he came out and made one lap by himself. Then the other cars came out and he led the pack around like a parade lap. It was a very emotional sight.
And Rob Goodman said some very nice words during the driver's meeting too! Robert Ballou said some really nice things from victory lane also. The O'Conners and Kokomo Speedway! :9::9::8::8::22::22: |
