Who is going to say Thank you to Bell and Larson?

Twister17 10/10/23 11:54 PM

There was just a race 40 miles from Indianapolis that payed $23,000 to win on a Tuesday. Let’s get excited about this joke of a payout.

They were the 1st ones I thought of when I heard about this. Figured Kyle will come back but Bell seems to be locked in to Cup (thats ok. Toyota & Gibbs have a lot invested in him. We are lucky we get to watch Kyle)

They will still get that big field of cars as usual, but will this be the catalyst that gets Larson, Bell, Courtney, & others back that skipped this years event?

That may be the biggest question mark when they open up entries for the event. Only time will tell.

Anytime racers have a chance at more money I’m all for it.

I keep seeing on FB and other places, Should be Six figures, Should be a million etc. etc.

While I agree with Kyle and others that it should pay more. Not sure how much they can do it with Ticket sales.

But I do see opportunity to sell sponsorships, This is a International event, Should be going after TIDE, Kroger, Toyota etc.

I’m just hoping Emmit survives

I will never understand this so-called controversy. I was under the impression you can't bash promotors because we should be lucky to have them, but bashing THIS promotor is ok???

If you don't want to go because Bell and Larson are not there, that is your choice....I will bet the place will again be packed on Championship Saturday.

There is no controversy it’s still the sad hero worship of those two. They ran the event multiple times and finally succeeded at winning it. Never once complained about the payout. Now that they are in NASCAR they feel like they need to make a statement. So what did they do? They raced elsewhere. Who cares. The seats in Tulsa were still full and the racing continued on. Thanking them because of the purse increase is just more hero worship. If they really wanted to make a statement they should have hosted a similar event at the same time for all of the money they could garner. Kinda like what Larson will try in an attempt to kill the Outlaws. No Drama nailed it with if you don’t like that they are not there then don’t go. The event was plenty successful before they arrived on the scene and will continue to be a success now that they have moved on. When you spend the exorbitant amount of money they did to win for only 10g, maybe it was the equipment and not so much the ability. This won’t be popular, but who really cares.

But I still prefer it with Bell and Larson. It’s the 200 that have no actual chance of making The A, that I don’t care about. I noticed a drop in entertainment value at the BC39 when they split the field on preliminary nights

Even if the Chili Bowl was 100k to win, I don't think Bell would be there, due to his boss. Coy was the big advocate of getting Joe Gibbs to let Bell race dirt. Since Coy passed away I don't think Bell has ran 1 dirt race since then. Bell has even came out and said that himself, of how Joe Gibbs pretty much has a hatred of dirt racing.

Get rid of the Chilli Bowl only legal "Clown cars" and add a scale if you want a more competative field.

I could be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that the "special" cars were outlawed??....

for 2025 and beyond. Not this years upcoming.

For the record, I think most of the recent wins have been USAC passable cars.

oppweld 10/14/23 9:59 PM

Possible, but only a scale will tell the tale.

I believe Larson used the same King Chassis for Chili Bowl and the western swing of USAC. Could be wrong and often am. He didn't have to be USAC weight at Chili Bowl then.
