MY TAKE ON THE NEW TRACK.
I was there Friday for the World Of Outlaws Late Model Series event.
Track was rough in hot laps and heat races.
It was a better during the feature and the racing was pretty darn good.
It's definitely a bullring.
Looks a bit small from the grandstands.
The track looked bigger watching on Flo Racing.
Only bad thing is the track had some good size rocks in it.
The mostly small Rocks but there where some bigger ones and the where nailing the grandstands like hail.
Track is like a combo of Brownstown (IN) & Fairbury (IL).
Pit area is kind of small.
Huge variety of Food and it's pretty good from Hot dogs-Burgers-Pizza-Ice Cream a little pricy though.
Good selection of Beer for $5 or Craft Beer $6
Once they get the rock issue taken care of and figure out the track prep that will be a racy joint.
The new clay is still very soft which I thing led to the rough track early in the evening.
I can see Midget races there be great.

Do we need a helmet and goggles?

I don't think so. Dust isn't to bad. I do recommend sitting up high in the stands for a better view.

Jim won’t need a helmet. His head is harder then Brady Bacon’s roll cage. :5:

flagboy55 6/7/21 7:41 PM

They had a pretty good amount of rain from what I was told too. The same system that looked like it might impede Paragon dumped on Indy. Nathan brings up good points, but I’m sure it would’ve been better for the Late Models if Mother Nature didn’t throw in her 2 cents

Re: MSCS at Circle City Raceway

I went the second night of the Allstars race and it was in pretty good shape. I agree that at first view it seems a little small but those guys were moving good in the feature.

ronmil 6/8/21 9:48 PM

Are coolers allowed?

flagboy55 6/8/21 9:52 PM

Another bonus for those of us who can’t make it to the track is we get MSCS on Flo again! I wish they would just sign up with them

No

BigWheel7 6/9/21 6:51 PM

There was significantly more people here for the Allstars race on Friday then there is here tonight. IMO. Probably 2:1.

Truphy 6/9/21 7:18 PM

Is the track better than it was for the late models? Looks like the track would be perfect for midgets. I’m not complaining about the track either I have zero clue about how to work dirt. I really hope it works it self in.

I didn’t see the late models run here but these heats so far have the track worked up higher than the Allstars did the entire night. Seems more choppy too. Not complaining just comparing from a previous race. I think these features are going to be fantastic.

Truphy 6/9/21 8:38 PM

During the heats of the late models most cars were basically bunny hopping on the ruts. I’ve never seen so many cars with all four tires off the ground. Feature was ok when they figured out where to run.

Re: MSCS at Circle City Raceway

They commented on Flo how the track is similar to the old Kokomo. I can see that comparison. Racing has been good tonight.

A new track that is dirt and a circle so it's perfect.

Truphy 6/10/21 9:09 AM

I think once the rocks are gone, and the dirt packs in more it’s going to be one of the best places to watch a race. The facilities are super nice. I don’t like the no cooler policy, I understand it. If I bring a cooler it’s just for drinks I’ll still buy cheeseburgers and popcorn and whatnot. Also it puts 5 dirt tracks within an hour of me so that’s a bonus

Longtime sprinter 6/10/21 9:52 AM

Went to the USAC midget race June 9th, as a first time visitor to the track, all I can say is I love It! Bullring for sure, but wide enuf for plenty passing and slides. I sat kinda high, so saw no evidence of rocks, and the track, although a bit rough, provided some great racing. Fan features are top notch, plenty parking, no complaints here.

Truphy 6/10/21 10:06 AM

Ya , the rock situation was borderline dangerous. There were more than a few golf all size rocks zinging out of there. Again that was late models with four huge tires. Other cars might not be as bad.

ronmil 6/10/21 12:52 PM

I saw no evidence of rocks. I didn’t see anyone else with eye protection, and after I saw no rock problem I removed mine.
Overall my initial experience was positive.

The track has great potential. As I was waiting underneath the grandstands during a practice session I could hear the stones pinging off the aluminum grandstands. A friend of mine got hit by one (sitting down low) that drew blood so stones or rocks need to be sifted out in the future. The backstretch exit needs to be padded much more or redesigned as that is a real danger area.

The good things about Circle City are the grandstands where there is not a bad seat in the house. Also the concession stands are nice and the food is mostly reasonably priced and they move the lines along pretty good. The bathrooms are great and hopefully will be kept as clean and sanitary as they are now.

The variety of shows is another plus and the facility has a good PA system.

Your Prescription up to date Ron? Everytime Flo showed a car that spun or something you could see em all over. From palm to baseball size

Re: MSCS at Circle City Raceway

If you sat in the pit stands off 3 and 4 you definitely noticed the rocks. When the sun was still up the track seemed sandy and dry for the heats but seemed to hold moisture after the sun went down. A couple of big rollers developed that caused more problems for the sprinters than the midgets but aside from that I think there were 3 legitimate grooves and they were really ripping it right against the wall in 3 and 4. The top line was a little lower in 1 and 2 but still plenty wide and racy. I never saw the old Kokomo but the racing reminded me a lot of how they mix it up at the new version, just on less banking.

wildman92 6/10/21 3:37 PM

We sat just to the right of the flag stand towards turn 1 about 12 rows up. Not once saw or got hit by rocks. Didn’t see anyone else get hit either.

I’m sure it depends a lot on where you sit. Walking underneath the stands you could definitely hear them pinging.

Fun track - we will go back!

The three of us saw no evidence of rocks. We were fairly high up and to the right of the flag stand.

Re: MSCS at Circle City Raceway

There was one individual that visited the ambulance outside the track to be treated for an injury from being hit by a rock. Pretty good cut to the nose I was told, but treatable with just a bandaid. Fortunate he wasn't hit in the eye.:)

TQ29m 6/11/21 1:50 PM

Re: MSCS at Circle City Raceway

When we ran TQ's there, we had an awful rock problem, people in the stands would come out to help us clear what we could so we could use the track, some even brought their kids Radio Flyer wagons to haul them, Liberty is the same way, has been forever, seems like they just work up thru the soil, from down deep, it's really a dangerous situation for everyone, too bad when they evidently have nice new facility, it was so dusty before also, maybe they'll get lucky and the rocks will stop working to the top.
