Was a wonderful race today. Lots of action. Congrats to Grant on the win. Would seem the Silver Crown series is returning to its former glory.

From my vantage point it was a bigger crowd than they have had at the mile in several years

If weather allows I'm making my first visit to DuQuoin mile for the race in 2 weeks. Been to indoor races there but never the mile

Ditto your observations. How about that Jeff Swindell having a great race!

He was letting it hang out at the end of the race that is for sure.

Swindell seemed to really have some low end grunt on restarts. Grant too.

THANK YOU to all of the drivers, teams/competitors, and fans for making yesterday one of the best Bettenhausen 100's in a long time! It was a wonderful day filled with competitive racing. Without all of you, this isn't possible.

For those still in the Springfield area wanting to take in a bit more Fair Racing.

IT IS RACE DAY! The final day of the Illinois State Fair means that the full bodied stock cars of ARCA return to the dirt to sling a little mud. Another event rich in tradition as it is in year 55, and boasts a winners list including all time winner Frank Kimmel, Ken Schrader, Justin Allgaier, Tim Steele, Dean Roper, Bill Baird, A.J. Fike, just to name a FEW of the more recent winners. Al Unser was the last driver to win the Bettenhausen and Allen Crowe races on the same weekend in 1970 and that will wait another year.

The 24th Illinois Sportsman Nationals has a shot at history itself. Jeremy Nichols is looking to become the only driver to have won this event for 5 consecutive years. Former winner Timmy Dick, Shane Garrison, Ethan Schnapp, Scott Williams, & 5 time winner Dennis Vandermeersch are among some of those that should be in the mix for the win in this event.

Come on out and enjoy great stock car racing to cap off the 2017 Illinpis State Fair! Another beautiful day of comfortable weather is forecasted.

As Spfld Mile said yesterday, this is really Americana racing at it's best. Great day yesterday, lots of interesting story lines. It was a great feature, even with the unfortunate car issues for Brady, AJ, Shane, Hunter and a few others that kept us from running a B. Really hated to see Keith Burch hit the wall. What a great qualifying run for that champ car rookie yesterday. hopefully they can put something together for DuQuoin.

ThrowbackRacingTeam 8/20/17 10:27 PM

Of the cars that didn't finish, I know the 12 & 97 are ok for DuQuoin. I'm surprised Fike didn't put in a spare engine but I'd bet they'll be ready. The 14 junked a frame among other things so we'll see about them and the rest I don't know.
