The is no race track or race fans in the mid west or across this nation, that will ever be able to repay what this man has done for open wheel racing!

On behalf of Bloomington Speedway's management, owners, employees and volunteers, God Speed Bill Gardner and R.I.P.

That is so true, Chris. One of the really awesome things about Bill Gardner was how humble he was. In a million years, you could never get Bill to admit or take credit for what an effect he had on our racing scene.

RIP Bill , a great guy to chat with, although not often enough. Condolences to family and friends.

Bill has been not only a big supporter of our "Indiana Open Wheel Kokomo Smackdown awards" and also very generous in contributing to it as well. Last year he made the first donation to the fund, shown here in the accompanying photo. Today I texted Bob and Monica while I was at work and asked them that instead of doing the Smackdown awards this year, why dont we collect money for a In Memory of Bill Gardner fund instead. That was ok with them. Monica said she would have the Indiana Open Wheel bucket out this weekend. I'll start it off with $100.00

I will never forget the first time I meet Bill, it was at Eldora in Sept. 2011, he was there with his dear friend Brian Hayden, I walked up in Brian's trailer and ask if I could get an autograph, Brian said sure thing, so then I said, okay where's Bill Gardner.

It was a running joke that Brian tolerated, and Bill loved. Over the years I have no doubt that same situation happened many many times at many different tracks.

Here is a picture of Bill from that day, in happier and healthier times.
