I realize the days of... Having been a fan of open wheel racing for over 50 years, it seems to me the cars are all becoming store bought cookie cutters. I realize the days of some guys getting together @ the Shell station after it closes to work on their race car are long gone. With this having been said we have to admit the days of inovasion and creativity are gone: when the chassis comes in one crate (with attached suspension) and the engine in another crate (that you can't even pull a cam cover from) precious little is left for crews be creative with! Perhaps air pressure in the tires and drivers seat comfort. I question, what the hell happened to competitin? Isn't that what racing was all about in the beginning? Who could take the rules and build a car within those rules to beat the other cars also built within those same rules? It seems to me that competition has been all but removed from most forms of racing. Hell one sanctioning body has the nerve to call "competition yellows"in my opinion two words that should never appear in the same sentence! If the day comes when all the cars cross the finish line @ the same time, as some desire, seems to me all races could be cut to ten laps or less. Take a few laps to get up to speed then everyone heads for the finish line @ the same time.
